Navigating Ego and Intuition
Speaker 1Welcome back to the show . I'm going to change things up a bit this week . Today's episode is actually going to be a combination of a solo episode that I recorded and then a conversation with my dear friend Julia . There's a reason for this . It occurred to me that I refer to ego a lot . I'm sure people are like what is she talking about ? It's not the egotistical type of ego that I'm referring to .
Speaker 1Anyway , I had recorded a solo episode and then , seriously , within two days I think , my friend Julia reached out and said hey , could we jump on and have a chat about intuition ? And so there you go , the universe is doing its thing . I had recorded this episode already and it has a lot of valuable information in it that I want to share , in addition to the amazingly beautiful conversation that Julia and I had . So it's going to start with the solo and then go right into the conversation that we had . So I hope you enjoy today's double episode . I thought this would be a good follow up to a couple of episodes . Actually , the one that just aired with Lauren Moyer about is our nervous system dysregulated .
Speaker 1If you haven't listened to that one , I recommend it was really good , if I do say so myself , and also the episode about Are we Carrying Shame . That was a very emotional episode that I didn't anticipate ending up in tears as I did at the end , and I just wanted to say thank you . There were a few people that reached out to me and I truly appreciated that . It really meant a lot . So thank you so much for reaching out and sharing your thoughts with me about the episode and thanking me for sharing . I really just truly believe that we don't need to live in shame and carry that with us and once we can let that go , it's huge . It's huge . So whatever I can do to help you work through that , I'm happy to do it . Today I want to talk about ego , because I reference that a lot , and when I'm talking about ego , I'm not talking about like , are you being egotistical ? This is more the spiritual outlook on ego . When we are in our ego , we are consumed with fear and lack , scarcity , worry , other people's opinions , staying in our comfort zone . That part of our ego is what is trying to keep us safe or what we've perceived to be safe when you are in your higher self . Actually , people refer to that a lot and I was like what does that even mean ? When you're in alignment , when you're in your higher self , when you're following your intuition , it's all really , in my opinion , very much the same thing . So when you're in your higher self , you are following your intuition , you're allowing your heart to guide you , you're leading with love . Your higher self wants you to step out of your comfort zone . It knows that you're going to be safe . It's going to keep you safe , it's going to protect you , it wants you to try new things , it wants you to have fun and play and be in joy all of those things that are so important . When we are in alignment , in our highest self . That's where all the magic happens and it keeps you present in the moment . And what do I say ? Feel the magic and the miracles in the present moment . That's where it is . So if we allow our ego , which is really fear and worry and all of that yuck , to run our lives , it's just keeping us safe .
Speaker 1And I talk a lot about stepping out of your comfort zone . Actually , I have a story about that . So I often refer to myself as an introvert and shy , and people that meet me , or some people that know me , always challenge me on that belief . I would say over the last few years , I've really been stepping out of that , and you will also hear me say that every time I step out of my comfort zone , I grow , and I'm constantly wanting to grow and expand and find the highest version or remember the highest version of myself and get to know myself . And by making myself uncomfortable and trying new things , I do that on a regular basis , which is also helping me to become less of an introvert . When I'm with people that I feel comfortable with , I have no problem having conversations and talking , but I also will be that person standing in the corner , not talking to anybody at a big gathering because I don't feel safe . I don't feel comfortable , and you know that's okay . I'm working through that , however . So I have a story to share .
Speaker 1I don't know if I had talked about this on the show or not , but I had been invited to be a guest speaker at an event and I was really excited when I was asked . I was terrified , but I immediately said yes , because the other thing is anytime I know that I have an opportunity to help someone , I'll do it , no matter what , whether it makes me uncomfortable or not . So I went to this speaking event and I was really excited to be there and it was with several women and when I went up on stage I froze and it was really like you know how you have that feeling . You're like , oh my gosh , like I totally forgot . I forgot what I wanted to say and I just stopped and I took a deep breath and I apologized and I said you know , I'm really excited to be here , but I'm totally an introvert and this is terrifying to me . And I looked out into the audience and they were so kind and loving and there were a couple of different women that I visually connected with and I just like drew this strength from them . They probably don't even know , but I like drew this strength within me from them because they were so kind , they were looking at me so kindly and like giving me their strength . And then I powered through and it ended up being amazing and a beautifully interactive conversation and it felt really good . It felt good for multiple reasons . One now I know . Now I know what to expect .
Speaker 1I have this tendency to like I didn't want to overly plan what I was going to talk about , because I am intuitive and so things just kind of flow . But I knew that if I tried to plan the whole thing out , that I would absolutely mess up . But I didn't expect to get up there and literally I was trying to say what I do , like I need to change my title because I don't really need a title but I couldn't remember Like I just froze and it was embarrassing , but I owned it . You know , I could have just run off the stage and I didn't . I stayed there and I powered through . But that's the ego . What are people going to think ? Did I do ? Okay , and honestly I don't know what they thought , but it was an experience , and it was an experience I'm very grateful for . Not only do I hope that I offered some tips and ideas to them that they might have found useful , but I also grew personally , professionally , and it was an amazing experience that I'm so , so , incredibly thankful for .
Speaker 1But getting back to our ego , I am asked often like what do you even mean by that ? And so I thought it would be helpful to come in and explain what I mean when I'm talking about ego . Our ego is also , you know , our logical mind gets in there and tries to have everything make sense . But when you're following your intuition , it's calm and peaceful and loving and usually unexpected . And when you can live in that space of curiosity and excitement and wonder and just allowing yourself to receive the information of you know , just asking yourself a question .
Speaker 1When you ask yourself those simple questions and you start to follow those little pings in your body , sometimes it's maybe a tingly sensation or just the first idea that pops into your head . You know , we have those feelings like the hell yes feeling , or the oh my gosh , no . Your body is communicating with you and that is your inner guidance system , trying to take you down a path , and the question is are you listening ? Are you listening to those little nudges , the little voices that are trying to guide you down the path that is in your highest good ? Are you open to that ? It's really fun . It's really fun and it can make life a little more exciting . So , anyway , I just wanted to share what my perspective is on ego versus your higher self . Whenever you can be in the highest version of yourself , it's fun and it's joyful and you get to play and have a good time , and that's where we should all and yes , I'm shitting Is that where you want to be . That's absolutely where I want to be as often as possible .

Speaker 2No , Well , yes , because you're special to me , but also no , Well , thank you .
Speaker 1You're special to me too , and these are fun conversations . They really are .
Speaker 2I love this because I love that Also . It's easier , I'm just going to say it . It's easier because I know you , so we're so laid back in this situation instead of like I don't really know you that . Well , let me be all prim and proper and ask you some questions .
Speaker 1I totally get that because you know me in my comfort zone . It's like I feel a little bit uncomfortable when I don't know people very well , which is okay .
Speaker 2And then you're prying into their deepest , darkest secrets about your childhood .
Speaker 1I do have to say that I am so in love with our conversation from last week with you and I and Michelle . I've listened to it a couple of times . I was going to say something about that too .
Speaker 2Like and just be like . If you haven't listened to that , go back and listen to it now , because we may allude to some things in this conversation , just because it's something we've continued to talk about all three of us , but definitely the two of us .
Speaker 1Yeah .
Speaker 2Because we talk more than Michelle and I do . Oh , I shouted out Michelle's daughter in the in the daily breath that posted this morning . Oh , she listens to it before she goes to bed . She'd message me . She's like my daughter is obsessed with listening to this . So for those of you who heard it , that's who Piper is it's Michelle's daughter .
Speaker 1Oh , that's so sweet I love that .
Speaker 2I told her to have kick ass dreams . Michelle's like great , we're going to need to listen to that every night and I was like well , I hope you liked the episode . I hope it was okay .

Understanding Intuition and Ego
Speaker 2So one of the things that we keep coming back to is talking about intuition , and so that's what we were going to talk about today . As far as we like in our community , in like , I guess the I was going to say the wellness community , but in like the spiritual community especially , I feel like so many of the people in the wellness community are also intuitives . So like , anyway , we throw around that word a lot , like what does it mean to be intuitive and what does it mean to listen to your intuition ? And and and also the word ego . Like you know me , I'm a vocabulary girl , but like we use ego as somebody walking into the room all egotistical and like thinking they're hot , hot shit . But that's actually not what we mean when we're talking about our ego .
Speaker 1I so love that we're having this conversation because I was literally going to do an episode about this .
Speaker 2Well , here you are .
Speaker 1Because I do use the word ego . You know we're in our ego mind and people are probably like what are you talking about ?
Speaker 2And so I was like I don't have an ego .
Speaker 1Yeah , and because egotistical is where people go , but we're talking in the spiritual realm of what is your ego and well , also kind of like the scientific realm of what is your ego ?
Speaker 2I mean , I don't know that scientists use that word when they're describing that part of your brain , but but it's not just like a woo woo thing , I don't think , do you ?
Speaker 1I don't know , I've never . I mean , the way it's been referred to me is like the spiritual side of it . So that's fear and scarcity and lack and worry and other people's opinions and blaming everything outside of us , our comfort zones , wanting to feel safe . All of that is our ego mind . And so the ego mind steps in and stops you , like it makes you freeze and makes you second guess , yeah , and hold it , holds you back from doing things .
Speaker 1But when you are what I was going to do with ego versus like your higher self , which is following your intuition , leading from your heart space , just allowing those little , those little nudges to guide you with your decisions and your heart , your higher self wants you to step out of your comfort zone . It wants to assure it like it knows that you're safe no matter what you're doing . It knows that it wants , but it wants you to feel joy and be playful and have fun and experience , experience things so that you can learn and use those opportunities to grow and expand and be the greatest , highest , most beautiful version of yourself . And so when we can step out of the ego , or at least be aware of it and know that , I often say that fear is an illusion because it's not real , like the ego , that's all man-made , it's not real . But we go back to that because we want to stay safe , we want to say comfortable , we want to stay in our little safety net .
Speaker 2Right .
Speaker 2I want to make sure , though , that , like , because we all feel fear , we all feel worry and discomfort and pain and all that stuff , and it's not to say that those things , those feelings , don't exist , it's that they aren't real , like you said , and I feel like the best way that I like to think of it is that my inner being , or like my true self or , like you say , your highest self , my inner being doesn't understand those things .
Speaker 2She never feels that way , she doesn't have those feelings , and so that's what makes them not real , because they're not . They're something that our human brain creates in order to protect us , and so we cling to those fears . But when you can actually be like , hang on , I'm feeling frustrated or I'm feeling this way or I'm feeling upset about this , your inner being doesn't understand that . And when you remember that that's not how you really feel on the inside , because inside you don't know that , you don't know that feeling . For me , it allowed me , in a weird way , to kind of take a deep breath and be like okay , I can release this , because that's not how I , inside of me , truly feel .
Speaker 1Oh my gosh . Yes , yes , I've never heard anybody explain it like that . Oh really yeah .
Speaker 2Like I haven't said that to you before .
Speaker 1No , no , you haven't . No , that's amazing and it's so true .
Speaker 2Yeah , and the other way and I said this to you the other day that I think is really cool Like when I'm talking to people about how , like , your body burns energy , I imagine it like little scrubbing bubbles , like eating the food that you've digested , like it's so silly , but like it helps me to like visualize what's happening . And the same thing is true when I think about my ego and I go to do something new and all of a sudden , I have all this doubt around it , or this fear or whatever . And it's literally your brain like going through a rolodex of all of your past experiences . And that could be from your past lives , it could be from your like , from what you watched happen or with friends and family to your mom , it could be generational , it could be all those things . And it's literally going to go through this filing cabinet and find evidence of why you shouldn't do this , because look what happened last time you felt flat on your face and like you know what I mean .
Speaker 2And so , yeah , and it's like giving you evidence of why you shouldn't try something new or move forward and showing you why you should be afraid . And so when you think about it a lot of times people talk about like the bitch in their mind or like like that's my inner bitch , and like I feel like that's not true , because really that voice is trying to protect you . It's like your human nature in that was fight or flight mode of like I just want to make sure we're safe . And so that's when you say thank you so much , because it's like your egos , literally it's an act of love trying to protect you and so if you can say like thank you , I got this , we're safe , go back to your room , go back to your room .
Speaker 2Go to bed , go back to your room I got this , we'll talk next week and , like , literally , that allows you to let go of that voice and send her or him or them packing and like you know , out of your head so that then you can look at the situation and find out how you really feel about it and , like I said , connect to that inner being that doesn't know that fear or frustration .
Speaker 1No
Balancing Human and Spiritual Growth
Speaker 1, absolutely . And that's like a , it's like a little dance . It's the dance we do between our ego and our , our higher self . But the ego is also such a low vibrational frequency .
Speaker 2Right .
Speaker 1It really is , you know . And so when you're in that doubt , fear and worry and like you're just shrinking yourself down and lowering your energy and not able to I don't know really connect , with you and that's why it feels so bad .
Speaker 2Yeah , Because you're just like spiraling in this negative space . So if you can be conscious enough and aware enough to say whoa , whoa , whoa , what are you talking about ? Go back to your room . This is not where I want to be .
Speaker 1This is not where I want to be .
Speaker 2I love that I'm going to start doing that , go back to your room . Go back to your room , rose . I don't know . I was talking to one of our mutual friends about like naming her ego , and so I just randomly pulled the name Rose out of my head and like ever since then I've been saying go back to your room , rose .
Speaker 1Does she go willingly ?
Speaker 2Not always , and I think that's the other part of this . Is that that's okay , that we're allowed to have , to quote my friend Donna . I was like you know , donna ? No , you don't , but you guys should meet . To quote my friend Donna , you're allowed to have shitty human moments . Yeah , you're human and you're here to be human . So , when we're talking about all of this spirituality , yes , connect here and you're being , yes , live the best life and that's we're like , just guiding you on how to feel best and , like you said , live the best and highest life possible . But you're still human and those human experiences are important because they usually lead you to discovering something else About yourself that will lead you to even a higher , healthier , more comfortable , more rich space .
Speaker 1No , I totally agree with that . Those human moments definitely , definitely guide us .
Speaker 2But I feel like I Don't know I wasn't gonna talk about this but do you , do you ever feel like we're working on all of this Spiritual stuff , whether we're focusing on our spiritual gifts and practicing those things or being more open to those things ? We're working on previous Issues that we've learned through childhood , and then we're also interacting in the world and like , do you ever feel like there's like a Hard ? Do you ever have a hard time finding the balance of being human and also trying to make sure that you're in a spiritual place ?
Speaker 1Yes , I would say almost daily . It's , it is a dance , yeah , and it's .
Embracing Feelings and Curiosity
Speaker 1You know , I do choose to surround myself with people on a similar path and so I would say that makes it less uncomfortable because , like I know , if I'm having a moment , I can reach out to you , you know , and say hey and like , have a conversation about it , right . But I , on some level , I'm like in my own little spiritual , happy , joyful world and people around me Aren't necessarily , yeah , there , yeah , and they don't . They don't necessarily get it , but Getting into a space where I'm accepting that and really taking ownership of it and Because I want to feel good , I want to feel good as often as I can , yeah , throughout every single day , and so , if other people don't understand that , I'm Finally at a space where I'm okay with that .
Speaker 2Yeah .
Speaker 1Because it's not about them , right , it's about me and it's about how I feel throughout every single day and whatever I can do to create the most magical moments through my day . And Really , when you , I believe , when you're focusing on I'm not focusing when you're allowing that highest version of you to come in , it also keeps you more present so that you really can enjoy . I mean , I talk about Embracing and allowing the magic and the miracles and allowing yourself to feel the micro moments of every day . You know , it doesn't have to be big things , just little things . And that joy and that pleasure and that fun , it's really exciting to see where it leads you . Yeah , I mean , we've been talking , we've been talking about that with like intuition , following our intuition and the little , the little whispers , the little nudges , you know , and how does it feel in your body when you're following your intuition ? Mm-hmm , you know , if it feels good , then you go toward that . If it doesn't feel good , you don't . And allowing that inner guidance system to To flow and just follow , follow your path .
Speaker 2It's interesting because how would you describe , following that whisper , it's , it's . I just was thinking of answering my own question . But what is your take on it ? Because I think they're similar .
Speaker 1But my take is well I I Wasn't previously aware that I was following my intuition right , right , so many of us are in .
Speaker 2Yeah , we're like I just make this just a and you're like , yeah , you were following your intuition .
Speaker 1Yeah , but but when I look back now and I was like I literally if something sounds fun or exciting or who , I want to try that , then I do that and as I've continued to do that , those , those things have been guiding me Towards creating a really beautiful life that I really enjoy and I have fun and I get to have new experiences . And right , I mean , like you said , I still have human shitty moments .
Speaker 1You know , yeah , sometimes they're every day , sometimes they're Once a week , you know , yeah , but it's how you , how you can navigate through that and yeah , and flow , flow through it .
Speaker 2Yeah , I feel like the key to following that is it's like you said before finding and following what feels good and and really connecting to like , using your emotions and your feeling not necessarily your emotions , but , yeah , no , your emotions about like as Accompass , almost as to which direction to go , and if something makes you feel like crap , then you know that that's not the direction to go in . If something makes you feel excited , and maybe a little bit nervous , but excited and and there's a happiness to that excitement , then that's the direction to follow and we go back . If something makes you upset and you encounter what we call negative emotions , like , then you know , like I said before , that's that's not who you are , that's not what you're interviewing is experiencing . So you know that you can more easily allow that , to let , to let go of that and or let that be and Move in a different direction . It's like getting too close to a fire the closer you get to a negative feeling , you know To back out . No right something new ?
Speaker 1Yeah , absolutely . Well , and I mean not to say you know the state of pure possibility . Right , you're allowing your feelings I know , shameless , plug what we're here for . You're allowing your feelings to give you feedback and they , they guide you , which you know , which direction you know . Are you gonna go up or you're gonna go down ? How are you gonna , how are you gonna use those feelings to , yeah , to guide the way and it's interesting .
Speaker 2Sorry , go ahead , oh , go ahead . I was just gonna say it's interesting because I'm finding again that this all comes back to awareness , because how often in our lives , prior to gaining some of this awareness , have we just felt our feeling ? I'm feeling this way life is lifeing . Yeah , this is what's going on and like , and it's like I Would actually say , I didn't feel my feelings . I would shut them down .
Speaker 1Yeah , there was a whole lot of that for sure . Yeah , there was definitely a whole lot of that . So now I'm in a space where I have awareness , I allow myself to feel my feelings , if I'm gonna cry like I just allow myself to cry , if I'm feel like I just cry and it's okay .
Speaker 2That energy needs to flow through you and there's no judgment , no , no reason why doesn't have to be there ? Happy tears .
Speaker 1They're sad tears , the they're frustrated tears . They're .
Speaker 2Overwhelmed tears overwhelmed tears .
Speaker 1Yeah , yeah , and it is without judgment . I I cannot remember the last time I judged myself For crying . That's fantastic . Yeah , it's pretty entertaining sometimes when you're having a conversation with me and I just start crying .
Speaker 2That doesn't happen as often as you'd think it does , but it's true and I think I Wish that the world approached tears that way , because there's such a sign of weakness in our society and it they're not . They're actually a sign of strength and that you're willing to work through whatever it is that's happening right now in your body . Sometimes you're just fucking tired and your body is like I'm done , and so you cry and that's okay . Like , or you're frustrated with tears or you're frustrated with somebody I used to go into . I would get so angry that my anger would come out in tears and I felt so foolish . I'd go into my meetings and I'd be with my bosses and I couldn't Get through it without crying and I felt so weak and they looked at me like I was weak you know what I mean Like oh , here she goes crying again and it's like no , I'm , I'm passionate about what I'm talking about and what's going on is unfair and all of these things .
Speaker 1But like it's almost like people stop listening when there's tears involved because of the stigma that crying has yeah , I've had situations like that recently where I have been frustrated and overwhelmed and Passionate and have started crying and I've definitely gotten Looks in the workplace about like what's going on with you and that's just I'm . I'm an emotional person and I have . I personally have no shame in that .
Speaker 2Yeah , and you know , maybe it's I don't want to say it's our responsibility , but maybe it's not a bad thing to be like . This is how I'm expressing my passion for this , for what I'm saying right now , like and like owning this is what's going on in my body . I'm keeping my voice mellow so that so the raised voice that really wants to roar from my mouth is actually coming through my eyes . But anyway , off on a tangent , but finding those feelings and being okay with experiencing those feelings and then getting curious about them and aware of them , of like what is , what is my body or what are these feelings trying to tell me , and being able to move through or forward from there that was a huge shift for me was starting to approach things from a space of curiosity .
Speaker 1That was . That has been a big shift for me over the last several years now , because when you're , when you're curious , you know I do my what if questions , what if I allow the universe to ?
Speaker 2surprise and delight me .
Speaker 1What if I allow creativity to easily flow through me ? You know those , those things , it , it . When you're in a space of curiosity , you are less judgmental , you're less attached . So yeah , curiosity is a good is a good space to be and when you're Getting curious about your feelings and your emotion , like what you know , do I know this to be true ? Why ? What is going on with me ? Those things are helpful to be able to go down that path .
Speaker 2Where is this coming from ? Yeah , I think it's important to also is it true ? Is so important because we tell ourselves that we're a certain way or we believe a certain thing . And I remember I've told this story ad nauseam , but when I would just tell people I love my job , and I remember the day that I was like is that even true ? I said it and I was like is that even true ? I'm not sure that's true . I'm just in the habit of saying it and so to really pull back and say , is that true , or is that a true belief for me , or is that what my mom taught me to believe ? Is that true for me ? Is that who I really want to be or who I think I am , or is that what somebody else told me I was ? We've talked about that a lot .
Speaker 1Yeah , and we could certainly go down the path of taking on those beliefs and how long we carry them , and at what point do we just give ourselves permission to tap in to literally who we are at our core ? I mean , for years I kept well , when I , I would say at the beginning of my growth journey , or whatever you want to call it figuring out who the hell I am , you know I was , I kept hearing step into who you are , find out , you know , be your true self , like who the fuck is that I don't even know , I don't even know and I like . So I then I spent time . I'm like well , how do you figure that out ? Well , for me it's been figuring out like doing things that make me uncomfortable , you know , because I'm like gosh , I have no idea , do I like this ? I don't even know if I like this . Maybe I should give it a try .
Speaker 2Well , trying things new equals uncomfortable for pretty much everybody , yeah , and then you can decide , after you try it , whether or not you like it , whether or not it's for you .
Speaker 1What is that saying ? Courage comes after action . I don't know , but that's awesome . I've not heard that .
Speaker 2But it's true .
Speaker 1Yeah , because you don't get the courage until after you take the action , and then you're like , oh okay , I got this . Or oh , that wasn't really as bad as I thought it was going to be , Right , yeah for sure .
Speaker 1Yeah , like me doing a speaking engagement and standing up there and having like freezing . You know , I'm talking in front of all these beautiful women and I couldn't even speak , I didn't know what to say . And then I just felt through that discomfort and said I'm terrified to be up here because this is so out of my comfort zone .
Speaker 2And I bet so many of them were so relieved to hear you say that . Yeah , and then I just like it's authentic , like this is what I'm feeling right now , and if I'm going to tell you that you need to be in touch with your feelings and that you need to know who you are , then I got to show you that I'm doing that too .
Speaker 1Yeah , well , and this is where I am . The Shannon 10 years ago would have probably well , the Shannon 10 years ago wouldn't have even been up on that stage first of all , I feel like the Shannon three years ago wouldn't have been up on that stage . No , probably not .
Speaker 2Yeah , yeah , maybe two but not three , not when we first met .
Speaker 1I know it's funny , because there are several people in my life now that didn't even know , like I didn't know you 10 years ago . So we met when I was in my growth journey and so and then the growth I've had since we've been friends over the last three years is exponential .
Speaker 2Yeah , yeah . I mean , let's be honest , the growth that we've both had in the last eight months , since last August . I don't know if you feel this way , but I feel like we've both been on a fast track .
Speaker 1For sure I would say mine kicked in back in January of 2023 when I started my life coaching and course and really started diving into all of my shit . But then yeah , absolutely the last six months have been six , eight months have been pretty intense and so much fun , Totally .

Exploring Intuition and Personal Growth
Speaker 2thing . We talk about all this as work , and sometimes it is .
Speaker 1I had my first group free group coaching call this morning . Yes , another shameless plug . Nope , keep going , keep going . It was amazing and somebody popped into the chat and I was talking about how I needed to , or I was going to work later , and they said you're working right now and I said no , no , I don't feel like I am . This does not feel like work . This is so fulfilling to me , it feels so good to be helping people . I was like I'm not at work .
Speaker 2I mean yes , but also no Right .
Speaker 1How awesome , yeah . So it was just kind of a good . It felt good to really embrace that and I was like , yeah , you're right , this is work , but it's not work yeah .
Speaker 2How amazing . So tell everybody how they can find you , for not because we're going anywhere , but just because I . Let's talk about this free coaching thing .
Speaker 1What are you doing ? What am I doing ? So every month I'm offering a free group coaching session and if people are feeling stuck or just have some things that they want to work through , then they can pop in . And today we had a couple of people that brought up some things that we worked through and then a couple of people just observed , because sometimes that's what we do and I know that I have often been in a space where I , and for a very long time , observed . But you can also learn so much from just being in that space and it can be helpful .
Speaker 2We all share a lot of the same issues quote unquote , so you can learn a lot .
Speaker 1And so we'll be doing that once a month , and I'm not sure at this point if it's going to be on a set schedule .
Speaker 2Right now I'm just kind of rotating days and times and going to just kind of see what works and so they can register with you on your website , and they have to make sure that they select to be on your email so that they'll get a notification of when the next one is Correct . Correct , so you have to subscribe .
Speaker 1So yeah , it's purepossibilitiesnet and yeah it's , it was good , it was really good this morning . I'm so glad , I'm so glad . And it was my first it was my first one and you know that is a little uncomfortable , but we did it and it was . It was beautiful yeah .
Speaker 2It's so cool too , because I know you were so excited about it and I'm sure that there was fear there too . But because excitement and fear in our brains are so connected , when you have that excitement , it's easy I don't like using that word , but you know , it's a little bit easier to switch that fear over into that excitement , switch that nervousness into the excitement and remember how excited you are , and I'm sure that that helped . Yeah , how well it went today . Yeah , so I'm so excited . I know a couple of people who attended , so I'm eager to hear from them as well , but I know that they were both looking forward to it , so that's funny .
Speaker 1We could go down a . We could go down a worthy path . Let's , let's . It was funny , so I had attended a virtual workshop about where Jamie Kern Lima just released a new book called that's right .
Speaker 2How did that ?
Speaker 1run . It was amazing and there was . She did like a 12 hour launch . It was insane . And wow , there was . I haven't listened to the whole thing , I have to admit , because that's a lot of time .
Speaker 1But there was a segment that I listened to that Oprah was on , and so Oprah has interviewed I don't know like 35,000 people in her career , something like that like insane right . And she said every single person at the end would always say was that okay ? Did I do okay ? Was that good enough ? No matter who they were . And obviously she's clearly interviewed very , very famous people .
Speaker 2Yeah , that you would .
Speaker 1You would perceive that they're incredibly confident and unshakable and whatever word you want to come up with , and they would say was that okay ? You know , because we all have that within us . And so , even after I actually , because I thought about that , like that thought popped in because I was going to say was that okay ? Was that did I do ? Okay , Was it good ? I didn't , I stopped myself , yeah , and I asked you know , and I asked myself that question and got curious . And you know , what do I know to be true ? And I know that I felt good and it appeared to me that it was helpful . Right , and I don't need to ask anybody to validate that for me yeah .
Speaker 2Well , and also like that's so cool , shannon , because also , like you don't need to ask anybody to validate what you already know to be true . And what you know to be true is that it was really good for you and you thought it went well , yeah , and ultimately it happened . It happened as it should . It happened as it was supposed to , so was that good ? Fuck , yeah , it was good .
Speaker 1It happened exactly how it was supposed to Exactly what it meant to . Yeah .
Speaker 2It might not have been what you had in mind Greatfully it was but , like you know , it might not have been like when you froze on that stage was not how you imagined it would go , but it was what needed to happen and , as a result , you probably reached more women , because they saw your authenticity and your vulnerability and you kept going .
Speaker 1It's not like you left the stage , it's not like you still delivered an amazing message that reached a lot of those women , and that's the key is to keep going and to sit in that discomfort for a moment because it passes , like isn't really that long , it really isn't , no , and you just feel through it and like , okay , I'm okay .
Speaker 2Yeah , take a deep breath . Yeah , take a deep breath . Here we go again . Julie and her breathing .
Speaker 1It's so true though it's when we reconnect back to our breath .
Speaker 2Yeah , and it I've said this kind of bringing this around full circle is that you know , when you take those breaths , even just three deep breaths , you automatically feel a sense of calm . And that's because you're connecting to your inner being , where it is always peaceful and it is always loving and kind , and calm and ease is found there every time . And that's who we are and that's who we hear when we listen to our intuition , and that's why your intuition voice always presents that way .
Speaker 1Yes , calm , peaceful , loving and usually surprising . Usually surprising or unexpected . It will often speak to you in . I don't even know what that is . For me , it is listening to the little nudges , but for somebody who doesn't even know , what is that ? Not just your feeling in your body .
Speaker 1What does that even mean ? I mean , that's been how I've gone through my path is being curious like what does that mean ? What does it mean to step into my true self ? What does it mean to step into my ? What does it mean to listen to my intuition ? What I have found to be true for me is I'll ask myself a question and then the first thought that pops into my mind , that's calm and peaceful and loving . That's what I , whether it's going to the store , or do I want to go get flowers , or do I want to go somewhere with somebody Do I want to do that ? Do I actually want to do that ? How do you listen to your intuition ? What happens for you , I guess , when you know that you're following your intuition , or what are you using as your guidance system other than just how things feel in your body ?
Speaker 2It's hard to describe . It really is , and I think that that's why we've been talking about having this conversation . But it's like how do we talk about this ? First of all , it's different for everybody . But when you're walking down the street , you're like , wait , I want to go this way and you don't know why . But you're like cool . And then you turn around and you go the other direction .
Speaker 2That's you listening to your intuition and it might just be . It feels like a thought in your head , and it sometimes is and then you're like , huh , cool , I'm going to try this new thing or I'm going to do whatever . I think that there's a I don't even know how to say that I could pay attention . I think following the nudges is a good idea when , all of a sudden , you want to explore something different , or you're like I'm going to do this instead , or like I really , again , following how you feel . That really Honestly , I feel like that's the biggest way for me to follow my intuition is to like what feels better in my mind I don't do and figuring out what I want . And that's been challenging for me because I spent so many years being so distanced from who I am and I don't believe that you can know what you want when you don't know who you are .
Speaker 1And so I fully agree with that 100% .
Speaker 2Yeah . So connecting to yourself is so important , so that then you can tell yourself hey , I'm listening , what do I want ?
Listening to Your Inner Guidance
Speaker 2And like I was given the instruction once and I've given it to everybody is literally stand in front of your closet and say what do I want to wear ? Not what's clean , not what would be warm , not what would whatever , what do you want to wear what makes you feel good about wearing . And that's what you wear . And you start listening to that voice . Open the refrigerator door . What do I want to eat ? Not what's fast , easy . What do ?
Speaker 1I want . That's very good , very good advice .
Speaker 2I think that's the baby steps of building that listening voice of like . Sometimes people feel it in the pit of their stomach , sometimes , like , depending on where . Yeah , everybody feels it differently because some people are more prone to visions and some people are more prone to like sensations and voices and light , like it . Everybody's different and that's cool .
Speaker 1Well , that reminds me of even something as simple as walking out my front door and going oh , I think I left my flat iron on and turning around and going back . Or there was one time I had this massive pole within me that I needed to go get flowers and I'm like why do I need to do that right now ? I don't need to do that right now , but it was like so strong .
Speaker 1I just really want to . So I went . And then the place . It's actually really funny because I sent my GPS to my then destination that was going to be after that and it came up to be 1111 was going to be my arrival time which I love because I love my angel numbers but there was a road that there had been an accident on the path and so had I not gone and gotten the flowers . Sometimes our intuition protects us from things . So maybe me turning back around for that moment to go turn off my flat iron , or going to get those flowers , or going those are those literally are the little nudges , the little whispers , whatever you want to call them . That I agree with you that people don't necessarily realize that that is actually your intuition , it's your inner guidance , it's your inner being , it's your whatever , your highest self , whatever you want to call it , and that's what's guiding you down the path for your highest good , always , 100% , always .
Speaker 2And then the trick is it's not a trick , but the habit to get into is listening to it .
Speaker 1Yeah , are you ?
Speaker 2listening yeah , are you listening ?
Speaker 2But also like it's interesting that we were talking about worth , because let's pretend for a second that you didn't feel like you were worthy of getting flowers for yourself and you would have hit up with the accident , whether you would have been involved in it or not you know what I mean Like you would have been stuck behind traffic or whatever it was . And so , like that's when we talk about like I'm working on how I value myself , or whether or not I feel worthy enough . I'm working on this , I'm working on that . It's so that we can continue to clear the path to get to know ourselves more and better .
Speaker 2And like that's what it's about , and like it's not that we're working on ourselves to change who we are . We're just reconnecting with who we are . We're making little changes , we're making little improvements , because that makes it sound like we're broken too . We're making little adjustments , shifts , so that we can get shifts perfect , so that we can get back to who we truly are and remember the spark . And so that's why , when you always talk about what brings you joy and what lights you up , you have to be in touch with that spark to know that .
Speaker 1Yeah , and asking yourself questions , I mean well , and even being curious about it . I didn't used to give a shit about what made me happy or brought me joy , because I was so disconnected .
Speaker 1And I just didn't . I didn't care , I was just doing the daily grind of life and I think , even once , the idea is even that you're open to the idea that things could be different Right , that's pretty massive too . It's like , oh , you mean , life doesn't have to be like this , what you mean , life doesn't have to suck , life doesn't have to suck .
Speaker 2I heard . I never remember this woman's name so I'm not gonna butcher it , but she said something that I thought was so powerful . She was like this is your life , right ? So life isn't this like omniscient weird thing ? Life isn't out there .
Speaker 1It's right here .
Speaker 2This is your life , this is my life . So when you say life sucks , you're basically saying I suck . When you say my life is shit , who's responsible for that ? You get to choose , you get to make changes . So that that's not true . So when people say life is life , I'm like okay , so what are you gonna do ?
Speaker 1Yeah , what are you gonna do to change it , because it's worse ?
Speaker 2because you're the one that's twiddling your fingers . If life is just life thing , then you're going through the motions . Snap out of it , yeah you get to get in the fast lane or the slow lane , but at least go somewhere . Stop treading water . That's life , is life in your wasting time .
Speaker 1Bam , it's true . It's true , but that's getting radically honest with yourself and that's uncomfortable .
Speaker 2Yeah , she's one of those women that doesn't pull any punches , and so it's something that I don't say to people often because it is a little like mic dropping , but it's so true . If I want life to be beautiful and life is awesome , that's my responsibility . I get to make that happen . I get to choose the choices that lead me there , and I get to do that by being in touch with who I am and following what feels good .
Speaker 1Yeah , I mean it goes back to the . You know , if you can show yourself proof that life sucks and every day is horrible , and if you look for that , you will find evidence of that every single day . If that's what you're choosing , If you choose to look for the brighter side of the day , or what can I learn from this ? I mean , everything doesn't have to be super duper positive , but there's usually a learning opportunity and a lot of things that happen in our day and how can .
Speaker 1I you know how can I utilize that to make a shift , or what can I just truly enjoy about this moment ?
Speaker 2And that's what's going to move you forward . I was talking to our friend Michelle about this and it was like finding something to love or to laugh at , or to find positivity in each moment is so important to get you through to the next moment , because you could be getting yelled at by your boss and like that feels awful . Find something good about it , like there's a piece of lunch in this corner so you can laugh at it in the corner of his mouth , or like I mean like laugh at me for saying you can laugh at shit . Like like literally like find something to lighten it , because what that's going to do is it's going to pull you out of the shit . You cannot be unhappy and grateful in the same breath . You can't . It don't work , but it is possible .
Speaker 1Oh sorry , Go ahead . No , no , go ahead it . Sometimes in that moment , you aren't necessarily able to make the magic in the moment or create the magic in the moment . So , from my perspective , like then , if you take a minute after or right after , what can I find to feel good , whether it was reflecting back and laughing at something or making light of it in some way , just having the awareness to make that shift right after the fact .
Speaker 2If you're not able to do it in that particular moment , yeah , no , and especially like , if your boss is yelling at you , you kind of want to pay attention to what he's saying . But like and not like burst into laughter . That would be probably not the best .
Speaker 1Who would get you fired ? Who knows ?
Speaker 2Julia said no , I didn't . But like literally , instead of carrying it with you for the rest of the day , like leaving the space , shaking it out , taking some deep breaths and then saying is that true ? Is what he just said true ?
Speaker 1Because if it's not , it has nothing to do with you , it's one of my favorite things to say is what's going on with other people usually has nothing to do with you , and what's going on with you usually has nothing to do with other people .
Speaker 2He got yelled at and so he has to like . So he's feeling shitty already . He found a little thing that you did that wasn't quote , unquote up to par , so he's going to vent his aggression out on it . So it has nothing to do with you . Okay , you made a mistake , is that true ? Yeah , is there something you want to do different ? Yes , and I'm going to take that from the situation . Cool Done and let's move on . I can look over the thing else yeah .
Speaker 2I don't have to be upset about the fact that , like , okay , that happened . But here's this little tidbit I'm going to make this change that's going to make my life and everybody else's life better Done . And if we remember that our brain scientifically takes 30 seconds honestly I really can't remember if it's 30 or 90 . But I think it's 30 seconds to process an emotion might be 90 . I don't remember . I think it's 30 .
Speaker 1Okay , I could be wrong , though . Yeah , don't quote us on that .
Speaker 2Yeah , don't quote us , but it's 30 to 90 seconds of like I'm angry , I'm pissed off because my boss yelled at me . So take that 30 and 90 seconds . Take 90 seconds Even if your body only does it overnight , but when we stay mad for the whole day , that's us . We are doing that . We are choosing to replay that emotion and replay that emotion and replay that emotion instead of allowing our body to process it . And processing is also leaving . That's part of the process is letting it go .
Speaker 1Yeah , we can choose to stay in the momentum of the negativity or you can choose to shift and get into the momentum of something that feels better for you in your body , exactly , exactly yeah . You know me , I usually throw some music on to shake it out . So funny .
Speaker 2I want to do this Shake your body Just literally move it through your body .
Speaker 2I wanted to listen to it . I think it was yesterday . I was like I want to listen to some music , I want to dance and I threw some music on and it was like this is not dance music . And then I turned to another channel and I was like I don't think I'm supposed to dance . It was good music , but it was like I can't dance to this . It was so funny . I usually have like go to songs , but I didn't this time . I was just putting like various Pandora stations on and it was like this is not working , damn it . But oh well , I got out of it . Yeah , I moved on . But yeah , we have to get going , we do .
Speaker 1You have to go to work , I get to go to work .
Speaker 2Oh , look at you , you do get to go to work . You , you know what . You light up so many people's day by going to work .

Speaker 1And that's the thing . Like you know , we don't always want to go to work , but I get to go to work and I get to choose what kind of a day I'm going to have .

Speaker 1And my morning has started off just beautifully , so how can it not be a fucking amazing day ? Exactly , it already is Right , it already is it already is Awesome , so I am looking forward to staying in that moment I'm throughout my entire day .
