Speaker 1:

Welcome back to the Pure Possibilities podcast. I'm so happy that you're here hanging out with me today. I hope you've had an amazing week. I just returned from New York. One of my dearest friends lives in Brooklyn and we had so much fun this week, laughing and walking and exploring the city. I've been there a few times now, and so we do a little less touristy things when I go now and a lot of time with family and friends and things like that. But there's always a few things that I really like to do each time we go, and one of those things is going to Central Park.

Speaker 1:

I love Central Park and the colors of the trees right now were just absolutely beautiful. We were just wandering around and it was just breathtaking, and I love the light posts. It's so silly but they make me happy, all of the light posts and then thinking about all the different movies that are filmed in Central Park. I'm kind of a movie girl and so that's always fun for me. And we were wandering around and we've been there. I mean I think that's my third time there now and I've never noticed that they have a carousel, and so we saw the carousel and it was all decorated for the holidays and we're like should we go? Yes, we should totally go on the carousel. So two grown ass women went on the carousel in Central Park and we had the best time ever. We were laughing and just having a great time.

Speaker 1:

When you can find fun and play in your day, I highly highly recommend it. I don't know what that is for you. Maybe going on the carousel in Central Park is not a fun thing for you, but for us it was a great time. I sometimes go on the swings at the park. I like to do those things that remind me of what it's like to be a kid, because we take everything so freaking seriously all the damn time. So let's find the fun. So what's going to be fun for me isn't necessarily going to be fun for you, but I highly, highly encourage you to find the things that are fun, that make you laugh and live and just really enjoy your life and have fun, because we're here to have fun. Everything is so serious all the time.

Speaker 1:

What else did we do? We walked the Brooklyn Bridge at night and that was magnificent. I've never done that at night and we were trying to. She's like why don't you jump and I'll take the pictures. I'm like okay, so like squatted down and I was like trying to jump and I couldn't jump very high. It was freezing, it's so cold, but it was fun. And so she took all of these consecutive pictures of me trying to jump and I'm laughing and cracking up and we're just having the best time ever. But the jump shot didn't quite work out, but that's okay because we were having a great time and it was just so beautiful seeing the lights in the city and the Manhattan bridge and it was just, it's just beautiful, so beautiful.

Speaker 1:

We went and saw a couple of shows. We saw and Juliet, which I absolutely loved. It was so good, highly recommend it. And because I've been there a few times now, like I said, we don't do the touristy stuff as much. We did end up at Bryant Park and we did end up at the Rockefeller tree, because we do end up in those places. But we spent a lot of time with family and friends and I met so many kind and loving and welcoming like all of her friends were just so welcoming and just such good people. We had such a great time.

Speaker 1:

So why don't you reflect on that for a moment? What would happen if you slowed down, savored those small moments and allowed yourself to notice the opportunities where you can create some fun in your day? What simple pleasures can you allow yourself to enjoy today? I would love to know. You should totally text me in the show description. There's a little space that you can do that. But what are some simple pleasures that you can allow yourself to enjoy today Would love to know.

Speaker 1:

Okay, I think that was all I was going to say about New York. It was so much fun and I can't wait to go back. I hadn't been there since 2022. Yeah, I missed last year, but we were celebrating my 50th birthday this year and it was amazing. It was amazing. I felt so loved all week long. Okay, let's draw a card from the Magic of what If? Card, deck volume two. They are available on my website, purepossibilitiespodcastcom or purepossibilitiesnet. Great gifts for the holidays. I realized today that Christmas is in two weeks, which is wild to me. Thanksgiving fell so late this year that it's like boom, all of a sudden it's Christmas and we are approaching one year of the podcast. On December 31st, it'll be exactly a year, which is also very, very exciting. Here we go.

Speaker 1:

What if I allow myself to move with grace, power and ease. Ooh, that's a fun one. What if I allow myself to move with grace, power and ease while you're having fun and creating magic in every single day? Grace, power and ease. What if we allow more ease in our day? Ease and flow and joy and fun.

Speaker 1:

I was actually talking with a friend earlier and you know we often have things going on in our life that aren't always great. I mean, I have things that are going on sometimes that I'm not super excited about, but I am really intentional with allowing myself fun and ease and rest so that it can help pull my focus away from the things that aren't lighting me up and bringing me joy, that aren't lighting me up and bringing me joy. I've had an amazing opportunity this year to do a lot of traveling. I went on six trips this year. Some of them were business, some of them were pleasure, and I created some pleasure. On the business trips too, they were fun business trips. But even though I have certain things going on that aren't always fun, I shift my focus and, even if it's just, even if it's in moments in my day, to find the things that feel good and bring me joy, and sometimes it's laughing and sometimes it's going on a swing or apparently going on a carousel in Central Park. We have that opportunity every single day to find those things or to allow ourselves to notice those things that we could do if we choose.

Speaker 1:

To my friend that I was talking to earlier said what did people think when you were on the carousel Like you guys are, you know, adult, like I just turned 50. I'm riding on a carousel he's like did people give you weird looks or anything? I said I honestly didn't even notice. We were so in the moment of having fun, I didn't care. And not only did I not care, I didn't even look to see if anybody was judging me. I didn't even like, it didn't even occur to me to pay attention to that because I didn't care and I hadn't even like, it didn't even occur to me to pay attention to that because I didn't care and I hadn't even thought about it until it was brought up, you know, and so that's what you want to do. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if people think that a 50-year-old woman shouldn't be on a carousel in Central Park, who cares?

Speaker 1:

Because I had fun, my friend had fun, we were laughing and taking pictures and the horses on the carousel had Santa hats on and it was just so fun. And I don't give a shit if people think I'm too old to be doing that, because I'm not, and it was fun, didn't hurt anybody and it brought me a lot of joy and that's what matters. So when you allow yourself to have that fun and do those things, you start to just not really care what people think. And literally that was kind of a big deal for me. When he brought that up and I was like, yeah, I didn't, it didn't even occur to me. When he brought that up and I was like, yeah, it didn't even occur to me, it didn't even occur to me to look around and think about what other people were thinking about what I was doing and honestly, if they were judging it, it's probably because they were jealous, because they wanted to be riding on the carousel and being free and having fun.

Speaker 1:

That's my story that I'm going to make up about having fun. That's my story that I'm going to make up about. Anyway, I invite you to ask yourself what simple pleasures can I allow myself to enjoy today? Drop a note for me in the show description, through the text, and we'll chat about it next week. Thank you so much for listening. Have a beautiful, beautiful day and an amazing week. Much love.
