The Truth About Feeling Good: Feel Good Again Mini Series #1

Shannon Danielle Episode 78

Feeling good isn't about pretending everything is perfect or bypassing hard emotions, but rather creating moments of truth, presence, and regulation in daily life. The first episode of the new mini-series "Feeling Good Again" explores what it means to cultivate authentic well-being in a sustainable way.

• Feeling good is a practice, not a performance
• Most people hide behind saying "I'm fine" instead of being honest about their feelings
• True well-being doesn't require perfect circumstances to experience joy
• Micro-moments of feeling good can be created each day through simple practices
• Your body communicates with you constantly - reconnecting with it provides guidance
• Reflection exercise: ask yourself what feeling good genuinely means to you
• Creating a "feel good again" practice starts with identifying what brings you presence
• Next episode will explore why we stopped feeling good (and why it's not your fault)

If this episode spoke to you, please share it with a friend who's ready to feel good again. You can connect with me through the show description, send me a message, or share what helps you feel present and good in your life.

Speaker 1:

Welcome back to the Pure Possibilities podcast. We are going to dive into a new mini-series called Feeling Good Again, and the first episode. We're going to talk about the truth, about feeling good not in like a fake it till you make it kind of way in a real, embodied, sustainable way. The reason that I decided that this would be a good idea is because we started the year off with feeling your way into the new year and now it's the end of April and I felt like it would be a good idea to really dive into like what does it actually mean to feel good? We've been taught to chase feeling good as an outcome or reward or something that comes after everything is fixed. But truly feeling good, real, sustainable, soul-aligned wellness isn't about pretending that everything's okay or bypassing hard emotions. It's about creating moments of truth, presence and regulation in your daily life. Feeling good is a practice. It is not a performance.

Speaker 1:

Have you ever had a moment where someone asks you how you're doing and you just say, oh, I'm fine? Or, on the flip side, you feel like if you actually told them how you truly, truly felt, you would just completely unload on them? If you're being truly honest with yourself and honest with them. I find that most of the time, people will just say I'm fine, and I know that I did that for a really, really long time. I was actually recently looking back at some pictures from several years ago and I was looking at the difference between the fake smile that I had and I could see the pain in my eyes and how people in my world thought I was fine because that's what I told them. And I was putting on a smile, pretending that everything was okay, because what would happen if I actually let people know how much pain and hurt I was feeling? The betrayal, the abandonment, all of those things I was hiding behind Fine, and you don't have to do that. So my question for you is what does feeling good actually mean to you, and how long has it been since you've truly, truly felt good Not just fine, not just functional, but really, really, truly felt good in your body?

Speaker 1:

People often say that feeling good means you're doing life right and everything is all lined up and going perfectly. Or feeling good means that you're always happy and always positive, or you have to earn feeling good, or this is one of my favorites you can only feel good when the circumstances are perfect, and I don't believe that to be true, because even when everything's a mess and things are going on around you that you don't have any control over, you can find you can create micro moments of feeling good and joy in every single day, and that's not bypassing how you're feeling, it's allowing yourself those moments of feeling good. Feeling good can mean feeling real, grounded and connected. It's not about escaping discomfort, but allowing yourself to have the capacity to be with it, to be with yourself, to connect with yourself and to allow your nervous system to breathe. Feeling good is a practice and it's something that you truly can cultivate and create in those tiny micro moments throughout every single day, regardless of everything going on around you. A breath, a stretch, a choice to simply pause, a song that makes you move that's my favorite. No matter what's going on, I can always put on a song that allows me to get out of my head and feel into my body and feel the music and truly, truly be present in that moment, and that is absolutely one of my favorite things to do, and no matter the shit that is going on around me or in the world, that three minutes that I take, I can feel good in my body and feel good in my heart and in my soul. Maybe it's a moment of telling the truth, telling the truth to someone, telling the truth to yourself, being real and honest with yourself about what actually feels good for you. You don't have to wait until your life is perfect to feel better. You can start today, exactly where you are, exactly where you are.

Speaker 1:

Over the last several weeks, I've had a few friends pass away. One of my cousins passed away also, and I don't remember if I talked about this or not, but it was really impactful for me and such a reminder that we have this life right now, in this present moment, and there's no guarantees and that might sound morbid, but there isn't and so when we can choose to cultivate whatever feeling is going to help us to feel good and again, that definition is different for everyone. You may not like to get up and shake your ass like I do. Maybe it's something else for you, but that's what's important is figuring out what that is for you. And if you don't know what that is, try some new things. Allow yourself to be a beginner, allow yourself to try something new, and you might fall in love with something that you had no idea would be so impactful in your life or in your day, or in that moment. Maybe just give yourself a hug, wrap your arms around yourself and take a deep breath in and let it out. How does that feel?

Speaker 1:

Over the next few episodes, we're going to explore why we stop feeling good, what really gets in the way and how to reclaim it, not through hustle, not through striving, but through grace and presence and the wisdom of your body. When we connect to our body, it tells us everything. Your body is communicating with you all the time, so let's reconnect with it and allow it to guide you. So I would like to invite you today, if this feels good for you, to take a moment and ask yourself what does feeling good mean to me? Not what I've been told it should mean, but what it actually feels like in my body, in my life, in the season that I'm in, in the season that I'm in. That can change from time to time, by the way, depending on what season you're in. Something might feel good during one season and not so great in the next, and it's allowing yourself to listen to your body and follow what feels good for you.

Speaker 1:

Ask yourself when was the last time I felt truly, truly good. What was I doing? Who was I with? How did I feel? Take a moment and really reflect on that. You can write it down. You could start a little note in your phone or a page in your journal called feel good again and allow this to be the start of a new practice.

Speaker 1:

This isn't about what other people believe feeling good means. It's about what feels good for you, and again we're talking micro moments. It's allowing yourself to find the magic in the micro moments in your day, not big picture. When all of these things happen, I'm going to be really, truly, truly happy. It's right now, in this moment. What can I do to feel good and what does that mean to me, when I'm deeply and truly honest with myself? Honest with myself Next week, episode two why you stopped feeling good?

Speaker 1:

And it's not your fault. It's a powerful one and I imagine you are going to feel seen. If this episode spoke to you, I'd love for you to share it with a friend who's ready to feel good again. And if you want to go deeper with me, you can check out the show description. You can connect with me by sending me a message there or if you have a question, you can always put a question there and I'll come back next week and share the answer with everyone, or you can let me know what actually is something that feels good for you, what's something that really allows you to be present with yourself and feel good.

Speaker 1:

Oh, my goodness, I almost forgot to pull a card. My office is in a bit of a mess right now. I'm kind of redesigning and setting things up again, and so my cards weren't right on my desk like they normally are, and so I had forgotten. So I came back really quick to add this into the episode. Okay, we are going to pull a card from the magic of what if? Card deck volume two, available on my website, pure possibilities podcastcom. All right, today's card is what if I allow myself to relax into the present moment, myself to relax into the present moment? You seriously can't make this stuff up. The universe always has your back. What if I allow myself to relax into the present moment? Is that not a perfect card for feeling good again? Be present, allow yourself to take in the moment with all of your senses, relax and allow yourself to find something, even if it's just a deep breath, to feel good and it's just a little more like yourself. Have a beautiful, beautiful day and an amazing week. Much love.
