What Does Deep Trust Really Mean? - Deep Trust Series Ep 1
We’re kicking off a brand-new mini-series on the Pure Possibilities Podcast, and this one is close to the heart: Deep Trust.
What does it really mean to trust yourself, others, and life - even when things don’t go as planned? In this episode, I share my own reflections, introduce the difference between surface-level trust and soul-deep trust, and explore how keeping small promises to yourself builds a foundation of self-trust.
You’ll also hear a Magic of What If card pull that perfectly aligns with today’s theme: What if I easily believe everything is always happening for my highest good?
By the end of this episode, you’ll feel grounded in what deep trust really means and ready to explore your own relationship with it as we move through this series.
✨ Reflection Questions:
- What does deep trust mean to me right now?
- Where in my life do I notice trust feels a little shaky?
- What’s one small way I can show myself I’m trustworthy today?

Welcome back to the Pure Possibilities Podcast. I'm incredibly excited that you're here and we're going to dive into a new mini-series today, which is so fun. I've been really enjoying doing these little mini-series. So I was trying to come up with some different ideas, and I put a poll into the podcast community group on Facebook that you are absolutely welcome to join. It's completely free. The link to join is in the show description. And I had wanted to get some ideas of what would feel the most impactful for my listeners. So they voted, and the theme that got the highest votes was deep trust. So today we're going to talk about what does deep trust really mean? But before we get into that, I wanted to share a little bit about my weekend. So I spent the weekend working on a project that I've been wanting to do for a really long time. I have felt the need to purge some things, like a ton of paperwork that needed to be shredded. And then I've got just various things that I just have like a surplus of. For example, linens. I've got an excessive amount of sheets and comforters. And so I want to re-home those and I'll donate them. And hopefully somebody will be able to benefit from that. But what happened was I was finding myself really frustrated because of something that I thought was going to happen over the weekend didn't happen. And I could feel it like brewing inside of me, I guess. And so what did I do? I danced it out. And then I redirected myself. I was like, what can I do that would help me feel better in this moment? Well, this is a project I've been wanting to work on for a long time. And so I did it. I'm so proud. I've got bags of items to donate. And I cannot tell you how much paperwork I shredded. It's just, it's amazing how it just comes in. And I was saving way more stuff than I needed to. And so I'm really excited about that. And so that was just like a good reminder for me. Oh, the other thing is it's so amazing how when you clear your surroundings, it also helps to clear your energy. And so it also allowed me the opportunity to refocus myself from something that I was finding frustrating because something outside of me was bothering me. And I was like, I don't need to allow what's happening outside of me to bother me. So what can we do? We can redirect, shake it out, dance it out, whatever feels best for you, and uh move on. And it was an amazing weekend of cleansing. Okay, so now we're going to dive in to our new mini-series theme, deep trust. What does it really mean to trust yourself, to trust others, to trust life, to trust the universe, the unfolding of the path that your life is going down, even when it looks completely different than what you expected? That's what we're going to explore together over the next several episodes. I'll be sharing practices, stories, reflections, and some questions that you can take with you into your own journaling and everyday life. My hope is that by the end of this series, you feel more rooted and grounded in yourself, more supported by life, and more open to the possibility that you can create your most beautiful, magical, magnificent, authentic life through the lens of trust. So let's go ahead and start by pulling a card from the magic of what if card deck. We're actually going to pull from deck one today because it's been a minute since I've pulled from this deck. And both decks are available on my website, pure possibilitiespodcast.com. All right. Sometimes I do these at the beginning, sometimes I do it at the end. But today felt aligned to do it in the beginning. What if I easily believe everything is always happening for my highest good? Well, well, well, that is very interesting because this is something that I was going to talk about today. Because when we truly believe that everything is happening for our highest good, that allows us to deepen our trust. Isn't that interesting? If you easily believe that everything is always happening for your highest good, you are more likely to lean into deep trust. Okay. So what do I mean when I say deep trust? Surface level trust is often conditional. It's like saying, I'll trust this will work out as long as it goes the way I want it to. And that conditional level of trust is not, it's not a safe way. Like when something shifts, it like you just can immediately lose your trust, like in a hot minute. But deep trust, deep trust is different. It's that inner knowing, a grounded, embodied sense that even if things don't go exactly the way you planned, you'll be okay, you'll move through it, you'll grow, you'll expand, you'll move into that next level of yourself. And you feel it deeply on a soul level, not just that surface level with the conditions attached to it. Deep trust is about building such a solid relationship with yourself and your life that you don't have to grip and hold and hold so tightly anymore. So here is a reflection I would like to have you just have in, you know, just out there. If I fully and completely trusted myself, I would, and then allow the answer to come up, write it down, finish that sentence as many ways as you can and come back to it as we move through this series. And remember, we're not looking for conditional trust. We're looking for that unconditional soul deep. I know, deep in my soul, that I will be okay no matter how this turns out, no matter what happens, even when it doesn't go exactly the way I expect, I know that everything is happening for my highest good. Now let's talk a little bit about self-trust because that is where everything starts. When you don't fully and completely trust yourself, it's very difficult to trust other people, to trust your path, to trust the universe, to trust God, whatever your higher belief is. So every time you say you're gonna do something and then you actually do it, you're building trust within yourself. It doesn't have to be huge. Maybe it's something as simple as I'm gonna drink more water today, or I'm gonna take a walk during my lunch break. And when you follow through, you are creating evidence. I can rely on myself. On the other hand, when you're constantly telling yourself that you'll do something and then you don't do it, your system, your nervous system and your body starts to lean into the opposite. And that's where self-doubt creeps in and it gets harder and harder to lean into the bigger trust of the bigger things that you want and desire in your life. I want you to notice how does it feel in your body when you keep a promise to yourself? Does it feel good and juicy and delicious and just yummy? And then how does it feel when you don't? I imagine when you, because I have absolutely done this, when I'm not keeping a promise to myself, my mind gets involved and I start berating myself and then just reminding myself how much I don't trust myself in my decisions. So deep trust isn't built in one big giant leap. It is brick by brick, moment by moment, through those little acts of showing up for yourself every single day. Now, here's the other piece that I wanted to plant a seed for the rest of the series. Deep trust isn't just about trusting yourself, it's also about trusting the people who deserve your trust. Let me say that again. The people who deserve your trust and trusting life itself. Because life is not always going to go the way you expect. It just won't. But deep trust is knowing you'll move through it and that the universe is actually conspiring for your highest good, even when it doesn't look or feel like it in that moment. We'll get into forgiveness, boundaries, letting go of control, and even aligned action in future episodes. But for now, just hold on to this. You are not alone in this, you are supported, and life is holding you more than you may realize. So today I just wanted to open the doorway into this conversation to highlight what's ahead and to invite you to begin noticing the ways you already do or don't trust yourself, others, and life. All right, we're gonna get into our reflection prompts for you to carry throughout the week. And before the reflections, I always love to invite you to connect to yourself. And you can do that by placing your hand on your heart. You can close your eyes if that feels comfortable. It just kind of closes off all of the outside noise and distraction that keeps our minds buzzing. So go ahead and place your hand on your heart, close your eyes if it feels comfortable, and take a deep breath in and slowly exhale. Let's do that one more time. Take a deep breath in. Hold and slowly release. Reflection question number one What does deep trust mean to me right now? Where in my life do I notice trust feels a little bit shaky? What's one small way I can show myself I'm trustworthy today? And of course, if I fully and completely trusted myself, I would I encourage you to journal on these and just kind of let them simmer in the back of your just allow it to simmer in your body. And when you find yourself overthinking, then take a step back and just allow these to be out there in your awareness. I feel like lack of self-trust is massively impactful for people. Many people don't trust themselves, they don't trust their decisions, they layer it with guilt and shame and negative self-talk. And so as we move through this series together, my hope is that you are able to step into more trust of yourself. When you trust yourself, you begin to trust other people, again, that deserve your trust. And it opens up so many pathways to shifting your life. And I'm excited to be diving into this. This is this is an important one for me too, because I've had a lot of moments in my life where I haven't trusted myself. So I will be joining you with these reflection questions. Thank you so much for being here with me today. And next time we're going to dive deeper into what happens when trust breaks down and how we can begin to rebuild it. Until then, keep returning back to yourself. Remember that intentional breath is always available for you. Breathe and be open to the possibility that you are supported more than you might believe. I hope you have a beautiful, beautiful day and an amazing week. Much love.
